Gondola, Counter Move Safety Moment

Gondola and or fixture move equipment (Such as Skates, SAMS, SCORPIONS etc.)

·       All SASR Associates must wear hard hats when the fixture or gondola is being moved.

·       Depending on the type of equipment it may be necessary to use a steel toe shoe slip on or steel toe safety shoes.

   1.     Sweep thoroughly around the entire fixture or gondola.

   2.     It may be necessary to place bolts with washers and nuts through the top of pegboard with heavy hanging items. This will prevent the pegboard from slipping out of the channel.

   4.     Push all product to the back of the shelf.

   5.     Remove the base kick-plates.

   6.     If base shelf is missing or must be removed to remove the kick plate, it is imperative to replace the base shelf and place weight on the shelf.

   7.     Once the kick plates are off sweep thoroughly under the gondola.

   8.     Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to place the move build equipment onto the gondola as well as lifting,                   moving, and set down.

    9.    Stay alert and always be aware of your foot placement. There is always the potential for crushed feet accidents.
  10.   Everyone should remain quiet and listen.
  11.   One Associate should be designated to give directions and instructions on when to push.
  12.   Never allow earbuds or cell phones to play music while moving counters.
  13.   Stay focused on the move and do not attempt to catch items that fall.
